Sophomore Shante Robinson was the only Costa track member to move on to the May 29 Masters Meet for California Interscholastic Federation.

Robinson competed in the 300-meter hurdles and placed third. She finished with a time of 42.77 and qualified for CIF State playoffs in Fresno (See story on page 16).

“I meditated a lot before the race and pushed a little harder than normal,” Robinson said. “My goal for high school was to place in State because it’s a big deal, and then colleges will definitely be interested in me.”

At the CIF preliminaries in Mission Viejo on May 16, Robinson advanced in four events. She qualified for CIF finals with a time of 14.82 in the 100 and a time of 42.70 in the 300. She was one of the top qualifiers and finished second in the 100, and she also advanced in the 400- meter relay with a time of 48.01 and a time of 3:52.23 in the 1600 relay.

“I feel like I could’ve run better than I did,” Robinson said. “I still have room to grow.”
