Junior Trevor Franklin broke many personal and school records during the 2015 baseball season as a pitcher for the Varsity team and has made history with his extraordinary talent.

Franklin has played baseball for a total of twelve years. Franklin plays for the Garciaparra Baseball Group, and has been playing baseball as a right hand pitcher for three years on the Mira Costa team.

“Trevor had arguably the best season a pitcher has ever had on the team here at Mira Costa,” Said Mr. Cassidy Olson, the Mira Costa Varsity Baseball coach. “He is not overpowering but definitely has command of three pitches and most importantly he really competes on the mound.”

Trevor Franklin has personally broken the Mira Costa record for the pitcher with the most wins, as well most innings pitched by a pitcher. The team as a whole broke sixteen records, just this season alone.

“It has been an amazing feeling being able to break so many records this season,” Franklin said. “But it definitely wouldn’t be possible without the help of all eighteen players on the team.”

Trevor Franklin won the title of most wins (11-0) by a pitcher in a single season. He was also awarded the title of most innings pitched in a single season (71).

“We were never able to play perfectly in any game,” Olson said. “Even Trevor wasn’t perfect, no player ever is. But during every single game he gave perfect effort, and was able to produce an amazing outcome during the season.”

All of his coaches and teammates agree that each time Trevor steps up to the mound he gives it his all. He has dedicated much of his time to baseball, and his determination to the sport has helped him succeed greatly.

“Trevor is an amazing person to know on and off the field,” Said teammate Blake Hammerstein. “He is one of the nicest and friendliest people I know. His sense of humor makes him so fun to be around, and is definitely someone everyone on the team loves.”

Franklin will be graduating from Mira Costa in 2016. He has been looking forward to the experience of playing in college, and after many years of hard work he will be playing for Pepperdine University where he will be attending college. At the moment, he is taking things one-step at a time when thinking about a future career, and has no current plans regarding baseball after he graduates college.

“All of the love and support I have received from my family and friends has motivated me to continue on with anything I have ever wanted to do,” Franklin said. “For me it turned out to be baseball and because of that support I have been able to continue playing.”
