The Mira Costa girls tennis team started the season out strong, beating Long Beach Poly 15-3 in its first match of the year yesterday. According to junior Talia Horrow, Costa students were motivated to to do well this season and put in extra effort to ensure a victory at their first match.
Top Performer Horrow played an impressive game and assisted Mira Costa in the immense victory over Long Beach. Although she started out shaky, she made a comeback and dominated for the rest of the day.
“We played exceptionally, considering we have no seniors on the team,” Horrow said. “Although we started out slow today, I feel our determination and teamwork paid off and allowed us to be victorious.”
So far this season, Mira Costa has a 1-0 record. The Mustangs’ next game is at Fountain Valley against Fountain Valley at 3 pm today. Fountain Valley also plays its second game today.
“During practice, all of our players are extremely focused and and I am impressed with the amount of skill on this team.” Sophomore Bari Cohn said, “I presume the future of this team is promising and I believe we will come on top next match.”
