Yesterday, the Mira Costa girls cross country team participated in a meet with Saugus, Serrano, and Palos Verdes. It took place in Palos Verdes in the form of a 2 mile mini meet in Palos Verdes at 2 pm.

The Costa girls placed fourth in the meet. Junior Melia Chittenden got second place overall, only finishing three seconds after the fastest girl. This mini meet did not count toward the Mustang’s record.

“Place-wise, we may not have done as well as we could have, but there were so many personal records made and the majority of our team showed huge improvement,” Chittenden said. “I’m really proud of everyone who raced and I’m excited to see what happens this season.”

Next week, the girls cross country team will be competing their second meet of the year in Ventura at the Seaside Ventura Invitational. The meet will take place next Friday at 2pm. Many other schools including Oxnard High School and Paraclete High School will be attending the meet.

“They are the most talented and hardworking girls I know, and I know we are going to do great things together this year.” junior Gabby Guerrero said.
