Yesterday, Mira Costa’s girls volleyball team won the second game of its season, 3-0, against the Marymount Sailors at Costa, with top performances by junior outside hitter Alexa Underwood.
Costa dominated the first set, winning 25-13, and won the second set, 25-18. Their momentum carried the Mustangs through their third and final set, taking the set 25-18, which ended the match 3-0.
“I think we played great and worked really well together as a unit,” Underwood said. “We have a ton of depth, chemistry and support. Marymount is always a great team and it was an awesome feeling to beat them in only three sets.”
With an overall record of 2-0, Costa’s takes on South Torrance, 2-3, at 5:15 p.m. at South Torrance High School on Wednesday.
“Tonight we ran a dynamic offense and had a solid defense,” Underwood said. “We’re going to continue working hard in practice and hopefully come out strong and fast against South.”
