Guns, gears, and gore a violent race to the finish for revenge. “The Transporter Refueled” is an action movie directed by Camille Delamarre with little CGI quality and unrealistic action scenes. “The Transporter Refueled” released on September 4th had a disappointing opening weekend only earning $9 million despite its $21 million dollar budget.
The attempted revamp of the Transporter series was very unsuccessful due to almost goofily unrealistic action scenes and without the former series lead actor. “The Transporter refueled” was very disappointing film because it did not live up to the previous movies in the series.
“The Transporter Refueled” tells the story of an ex-special forces member who now works as a skilled driver for criminal organizations. The main character Frank Martin’s, (Ed Skrein) father is kidnapped by his conspirators to ensure he follows through on his assigned job.
The main character soon sees the reason for the his conspirators fight for revenge against a Russian Kingpin who once ruled over their lives and supports them even after they release his father. Frank Martin and his father work together risking their lives to help these women escape their terrible situation.
“The Transporter Refueled” is written very poorly as the plot of the movie ends up being unoriginal and easily predictable. The poorly written script was filled with an hour and thirty minutes of unrealistic action scenes. Also commonly used action movie cliches such as not looking back at explosions and bullet wounds being ineffective to main characters.
The cinematography in the movie was excellent and looked very professional with the exception of the eye gougingly bad CGI during the action scenes. Improved CGI could have resulted in a more visually aesthetic movie but its incompetence damaged these scenes, making the visual aspects more unrealistic.
In addition, quality acting in “The Transporter Refueled” was nearly nonexistent with the exception of few dramatic, tense moments between characters. There were scenes where strong acting showed through but mainly characters weren’t dynamic or explored in depth leading to an incredibly bland storyline.
The film’s only redeeming quality is its abundant and exciting action scenes which, while a visual disaster, still proved relatively entertaining. The story also begins with unexplained twists and turns that do a great job of keeping the viewer engaged in the movie until the action sequences start.
Overall, “The Transporter Refueled” was unbelievably unrealistic due to its over the top and obscenely fake looking action sequences. This movie was a clear example of Hollywood’s tendency to elongate a series past its prime, effectively ruining it.
This film was intended solely for entertaining action scenes with a lack of focus on plot development. “The Transporter Refueled” is simply not worth the money and is a disappointment to longtime fans of the Transporter series.
“The Transporter Refueled” was rated PG-13 for violence, drugs, sexual material, language, and some thematic elements. This movie was released on september 4th and can be seen nationwide in most major theaters.
