On Saturday, the members of the Mira Costa’s cross country team who were not participating in the Seattle Invitational competed in the Woodbridge Invitational in Great Oak Park, Irvine. The sophomore girls got first place while the sophomore boys got eighteenth.
The freshman boys placed eleventh while the freshman girls places seventh. Sophomore Conor Beezhold finished first for Costa in his division with a time of 17:57. For the sophomore girls, Jillian Reed was Costa’s top performer with a time of 20:11. Freshman Cy Chittenden finished first for Costa with a time of 16:48.
“The fact that there was only a 22 second gap between our first scorer, Reed, and our fifth scorer, sophomore Maci Vosberg, shows how strong of a front pack the sophomores had,” sophomore Katherine Elias said.
The next meet will be the first Bay League meet of the season, taking place in Palos Verdes. After placing well in the Seattle Invitational and in the Ventura and Laguna Hills meet, Costa is off to a great start this season.
“I won’t run faster next race just because the course is hillier next time, but because I will run it well,” said Beezhold. “As a team though, Costa will definitely do well and can will definitely come away with the win.”
