Mira Costa ranked 19 out of 6,034 public high schools in California based on statistics from last year, as published by the college review company Niche.
Niche ranked schools based on criteria such as Scholastic Assessment Test and American College Test scores, Advanced Placement test pass rates, graduation rate, Advanced Placement enrollment rate and student culture and diversity.
“I am so proud of our students, teachers, staff, parents and community partners,” Costa Principal Dr. Ben Dale said. “We are all Team Costa.”
The average SAT score at Costa is 1940 while the average for the ACT is 29.Costa received an Advanced Placement test pass rate is 79.3% and the graduation rate is 97%.
In addition to assessing Costa’s test scores, Niche collected feedback from the school’s graduates and surveyed students and parents on the culture and diversity of the student body. According to the surveys, parents and students gave culture and diversity a score of B-. High school graduates gave Costa an overall score of A+.
“I would like to congratulate all of the South Bay schools for making the list,” Dale said. “What a great place to live and get an education all across the South Bay.”
