The Mira Costa Mustangs boys water polo team suffered a difficult loss to Montebello, 11-10, Oct. 7.
Both teams played aggressively and competed well. However, Montebello scored a decisive goal in the final minutes of the game, clinching a win.
Top performers for the Mustangs were senior Jake Miller, who scored four goals, and senior Julian Monk, who scored two goals. However, these and four other Mustang goals were not enough to defeat the tough Montebello team.
The non-league loss to Montebello drops Mira Costa’s overall record to 9-4, but its Bay League record is unaffected and remains 1-0.
