Mira Costa’s girls tennis team dominated against its rival, Redondo Union High School, 15-3 on Thursday at home in the team’s sixth Bay League match this season at 3 p.m.
Junior doubles partners Katarina Draskovic and Isabella Draskovic stood out, according to freshman tennis player Bella Buchta. The twins won their first game 6-0 and continued strong, dominating their second game 6-1 and their last game 6-0.
“Our team put a lot of effort into Thursday’s match, as Redondo has an impressive tennis team,” Buchta said. “We focus on getting to the net during practices and it was very helpful during today’s match.”
The Mustangs are currently 5-1 in Bay League and 15-2 overall. The team’s next match is a Bay League match against Palos Verdes at home on Tuesday. According to junior tennis player Amy Gaal, Costa’s next match should be challenging because Palos Verdes has a great tennis team.
“We will enter Tuesday’s match confident and ready to play,” Gaal said. “As every match passes, we continue to improve and our team is excited for the challenge on Tuesday.”
