The Foo Fighters blew the roof off The Forum with their classic rock-and-roll performance.
The Foos played a thrilling and unforgettable show, because of the exhilarating effects and lights that were absolutely exhilarating. Also the liveliness of the band was spectacular, through its interaction with each other and the crowd.
The Foo Fighters formed in Seattle in 1994, and since have released 8 studio albums along with numerous EPs. The band started as Dave Grohl’s solo project, but soon became a full band as members joined in over time.
The band has been consistent in their members and hasn’t been a change in their line up in a long time. The live band consists of Dave Grohl on vocals and guitar, Pat Smear on rhythm guitar, Nate Mendel on bass, Taylor Hawkins on drums, Chris Shiflett on lead guitar, and Rami Jaffee on keys.
Another component to the show was the exhilarating special effects and intriguing short videos that were played during the show. While the band played, huge screens behind them projected a larger picture of them or short clips of random thrilling animations. When the Foos played “White Limo” and “Arlandria” they had an eye-numbing black and white flashing screen of words symbols, which fell appropriate to the screaming vocals and screeching guitars of each song.
In between and during songs Grohl would ask the crowd questions or have fans sing along, creating an intimate vibe between the crowd and the band. At one point Grohl gave out his broken guitar into the crowd to a fan, making the crowd screamin jealously. When they performed the song “Congregation”, it was slowed down and brought the crowd in harmony as everyone sang along, and this interaction of the band made the show more enjoyable and memorable.
Pleasingly to the crowd, incorporated many of its older songs to the set list. They played “Big Me”, “Cold Day In The Sun”, and “My Hero”, which are some of the band’s biggest hits. With the addition of these more classic songs it gave the crowd to join in and sing along, and created an all together feeling from the band and with the audience.
Towards the end of the concert, The Foo’s brought out some special guests as a surprise, which created more excitement and made the show more enjoyable. They brought out small rock band called Haim, and rock and roll legend Stevie Nicks, which slowed down the hard rock performance, but added a heart-felt comforting vibe. With Nick’s light almost country vocals and The Foo’s hard rock sound, it created a grungy but beautiful tone to the songs.
The Foo’s performance with exhilarating special effects and engaging videos, interaction between the band and with the crowd, addition of older songs, and the special guests created an invigorating show.
The Foo Fighters performed at The Forum on September 21 in Los Angeles. The North American leg of the tour will be ending on October 18 in Castaic, Ca at The Love Ride Festival.
