Drake and Future’s newest album “What A Time To Be Alive” is most likely one of the worst albums put out this year with constantly changing genres that range from R&B to trap and incomprehensible vocals. The collaborative album is sure to bring out some of the worst of the both.
“What A Time To Be Alive” was recorded in a studio over the course of six days with hopes to live up to the fame of both Drake and Futures past albums. But the poor lyrics and bad timing exactly reflect the rushed process.
The rapper’s different lyrical styles constantly contradict each other with Drake talking about working hard with sleepless nights and Future talking about the party lifestyle and drug usage.
Drake and Future while rappers on a whole different level both came out with two of the top albums of 2015 but, when they came out with this quickly put together album the rappers differences are made obvious and the listening experience is one way worse than their past albums.
“What A Time To Be Alive” starts out trap with with fast beats and indecipherable speech which is probably the worst part of the album. The first six songs are cringe worthy and not worth the time to listen to.
Finally past the album’s halfway mark it takes a turn into probably more favorable songs of the album. The songs start to slow down and they begin to give you a more stereotypical Drake experience that most Drake fans know and love.
The last two songs of the album give Future and Drake a chance to both have their own solos, Future has “Jersey”, which contains the aesthetic of a typical Future song. Drake having “30 for 30 freestyle” which seems like a quickly recorded song in which Drake talks about his recent battle with Meek Mill.
With the slurred speech and unique and abstract lyrics or beats it’s a new sensation to Drake and is not worth your time. Drake and Futures colab will most likely die very quickly without any top chart songs or without becoming a platinum record.
Although the album was anticipated to be one of the best with two of this years hottest rappers it contains major flaws.
“What A Time To Be Alive” is available for purchase on Itunes for $9.99, and listening on Apple Music.
