Trivium’s latest album “Silence in the Snow” rocks listeners with its intense sound.
“Silence in the Snow” is a perfectly crafted album with impeccable heavy metal melodies and cleanly sung vocals accompanied by powerful instrumentals. The album has a fantastic mix of songs, contrasting between loud and upbeat tones to slower and smoother composition.
Trivium was formed in 1999 in Orlando, Florida, and has since then been performing with a mix of members. Throughout the years the band has continued to release albums throughout the years in the heavy thrash metal genre.
Trivium currently features Matt Heafy as lead singer and guitarist, Corey Beaulieu as guitarist and backing vocalist, Paolo Gregoletto as bassist and backup vocalist, and Mat Madiro on the drums. They band started in high school by Heafy and a few of his friends who later left the group.
One well-done part of the album is that each song tells a story with each lyric having a meaning. “Silence in the Snow” brings out all the major themes that this album tells including the disparity of humanity and how death is a part of life. This hit brings up the pains of war and the destruction caused accompanied by perfectly sung lyrics and a smooth rhythm a perfect sound for this darker tone.
Another notable part of this album is that each song brings in a similar sound while still differentiating enough to keep the listener entertained with thrilling guitar solos and clean singing to tell the story of each song in a dramatic manner. The album also features remarkable drumming that keeps the fast pace of the album while not stealing the show from the singer.
Overall the album features excellent songwriting throughout, each song having an easily accessible theme and each lyric flowing perfectly with the instrumentals of the song. Many of the songs still contain catchy lyrics and choruses that makes the album fun to listen to and full of more than just continuous instrumentals.
Another impressive feature of this album is that it does not include the screaming present in its previous albums, making the album thrilling to listen to. This tremendously helps the album because the majority of the album has a slower pace where screaming would be out of place.
While the album is impressive, by diversifying the instrumentals throughout the album and changing up the tone of the album more the album would stop from sounding repetitive . A few of the songs carry little difference in the instrumentals throughout the song leading to it being dull or monotonous with each song guitar following a similar pace and sounds. There also is also very little experimentation causing every song to sound the same.
With unbelievable instrumentals and wonderfully performed singing “Silence in the Snow” is a great thrash metal album while still having a smooth sound that accompanies their perfectly written sound. Trivium has released another impressive album while still not straying far from their classic sound.
The album was released on October 2 and is available digitally and in retail for $9.99.
