Mira Costa’s girls tennis team defeated Dos Pueblos 15-3 at Dos Pueblos High School on Saturday in a non-Bay League match, with top performances by sophomore singles player Isabelle Lau and junior doubles players Drew Waller and Lena Nagy.
Waller and Nagy dominated their first game winning 6-1, and continued strong sweeping their last game 6-0. Lau played an impressive first game winning 6-3, and continued to dominate to win her next game 6-0.
“Saturday’s match was very successful, and I was very pleased with its outcome,” Lau said. “All of our players followed coach Joe Casulli instructions to get to the net as much as possible and to keep returns inside the court.”
The Mustangs are currently 6-2 in Bay League and 18-4 overall. The team’s next match is a non-Bay League match against Inglewood at Inglewood High School on Tuesday. According to Nagy, Inglewood’s tennis team isn’t the strongest and Costa will easily defeat them.”
“The last time we were supposed to play Inglewood junior varsity played for varsity and defeated Inglewood 18-0,” Nagy said. “Even though Tuesday’s competition won’t be the strongest, our team will still give it our all.”
