Mira Costa’s girls volleyball emerged victorious over Peninsula in an away game on Thursday, winning the match 3-0.
The Mustangs won all three sets, 25-12 , 25-15 and 25-17. Sixteen kills from sophomore middle blocker Piper Monk-Heidrich and five kills from junior outside hitter Alexa Underwood pushed the Mustangs to the 3-0 victory.
“We all have worked so hard at practice this week and it really showed during the game,” Monk-Heidrich said. “We played great.”
The Mustangs will next play in the Californa Intercholastic Federation (CIF) Tournament of champions on Oct 30 and 31. Their current overall record is 22-4, and their Bay League record is 4-1. According to junior opposite Britt Bommer, the main goal for the next tournament is to play well and have fun.
“We’re all pumped for CIF, and to play with and for each other,” Bommer said. “We had a great team this year, and this is our chance to prove ourselves.”
