Mira Costa’s girls tennis team defeated Chadwick, 15-3, at home on Thursday in a non-Conference match match, with top performances by junior singles player Amy Gaal and junior doubles partners Isabella and Katarina Draskovic.
Isabella and Katarina Draskovic swept their opponents in all three of their games 6-0. Gaal faltered at first and lost 6-2, but she came back strong and won her next games, 6-1 and 6-2.
“The energy on the court was great during Thursday’s match, and it shined through during the team’s matches,” Katarina Draskovic said. “Everyone on the team returned balls whenever possible and served strong.”
The Mustangs are currently 6-2 in Bay League and 18-4 overall. The team’s next match is a Bay League match against Redondo at Redondo High School on Monday. According to Gaal, the team should play well against Redondo considering the skill level on the team.
“Our match against Redondo will be in the California Interscholastic Federation, so there is a lot of pressure on the team,” Gaal said. “We have beaten Redondo before, so Monday’s match should be no different.”
