Mira Costa’s boys water polo team took down San Clemente High School in a non-conference away game this Saturday. The game was very competitive, but the Mustangs were powered to victory with goals from senior set Finn Pardon, and senior and junior attackers Nate Griffith and Christian Thornton.
Pardon was able to easily exploit the San Clemente defense, posting up at the set position and racking up five goals in total. He felt that his teammates were able to give key passes for him to score.
“I was able to create space on the post during six on fives and my teammates were able to set me up with good passes,” Pardon said.
The Mustangs overall record is currently 17-4, and 5-0 in Bay League, and the team will participate in the Steven Pal tournament this Friday and Saturday at Mira Costa. According to senior attacker Jake Tolt, the team hopes to show how far they have come this season.
“I hope this will be a chance for us to improve as a team,” Tolt said. “It will be a good opportunity to gauge how far we have come this year.”
