Mira Costa’s boys basketball destroyed Burroughs High School 78-38 in the team’s Pacific Shores Tournament at home on Thursday. The Mustangs were on top the whole way through, outplaying Burroughs in nearly every category.
Senior forward Quenton Jackson scored 17 points with an 80% field goal success rate, grabbed seven steals, and made 4 assists. According to sophomore guard Bobby Barkley, Jackson was able to anticipate plays which led to more points.
“Quenton put himself in good positions offensively and defensively,” Barkley said. “I think a lot of his effort on defense was reflected in his offensive performance.”
The Mustangs, now 3-0 overall, will next play an undetermined opponent on Saturday in the Pacific Shores Tournament. According to junior guard Ryan White, the team is only getting better as they play together more.
“Playing together and getting wins can only help us, because it tells us what we are and aren’t doing right,” White said.
