Mira Costa’s girls water polo team lost to Los Alamitos 9-6 in a non-conference game on Tuesday in a home game, with top performances by utility players senior Kaylee Brownsberger and junior Aminadi Anorve.
In the first quarter, goals by Brownsberger and Anorve gave Costa their momentum scoring the first goals. In the second quarter, the teams were tied 5-5. By the end of the game, Costa had fell behind and allowed Los Alamitos to score 4 points in the last half. According to Brownsberger the team played well and were excited to play a division one team.
“Considering we lost to a division one team, our performance was strong,” Brownsberger said. “We played well and cohesive and I know that our team can only get better.”
The Mustangs are now 3-3 overall, and the team plays against Arroyo Grande on Friday at home. According to senior Yen Nguyen, the team is strong and will play great on Friday.
“I love this team, and I can definitely see us going far this season,” Nguyen said. “We have a lot of potential and the team is full of skill.”
