Mira Costa’s boys soccer team defeated North Torrance High School 4-2 in an away game on Tuesday. Senior left midfielder Kevin Vartan led the team, scoring three of the four goals.
The Mustangs started the game off strong with two goals from Vartan and junior Max Taylor in the first half. Vartan led the boys to victory by scoring the next two goals in the second half. According to senior team captain Sean Fabian, the team had good possession of the ball.
“We had a slow start, but managed to pick up the intensity by controlling a majority of the game,” Fabian said.
Costa, now 3-0 overall, will play its next game against Hawthorne this Thursday at home at 3 p.m. According to senior Adrian Caldevilla, the team will be preparing for the upcoming game by improving the weaknesses showed against North.
“Our next game will go well,” Caldevilla said. “Hawthorne hasn’t had the best results this year and we are confident we can get the job done.”
