Mira Costa’s boys basketball team was defeated by Harvard-Westlake 66-60 on Friday in the El Segundo tournament at El Segundo High School. The game was decided by a hard fought overtime battle between the two.
Sophomore guard Bobby Barkley put up a valiant effort with 19 points, one assist, and two steals. According to Barkley, his long range shooting was a vital component to his success.
“I made a lot of threes, which helped give me more confidence as the game went on,” Barkley said.
The Mustangs are now 6-1 overall and will next play Santa Monica High School on Saturday in the El Segundo tournament at El Segundo High School. According to junior guard Ryan White, the team will have to improve on their mistakes to be able to compete with Santa Monica.
“They will be a good team,” White said. “We just have to focus on executing simple plays and not focus on the result.”
