Mira Costa’s boys soccer crushed Hawthorne 5-0 on Thursday at home. The Mustangs constantly kept possession of the ball and had a good understanding of the game leading to their win.

The Mustangs started the game off strong with four goals made during the first half by senior Kevin Vartan, senior Brendan Fisher, and junior Max Taylor. The boys continued to dominate the second half by scoring another goal, made by Livingston, and kept Hawthorne from scoring. According to senior Adam Bedingfield, the team had a great understanding of the game and had good capability of keeping possession of the ball.

“We played very well today,” Bedingfield said. “We are a close knit group of skilled players and looking forward I see us having an outstanding season.”

Costa, now 4-0 overall, will play Animo this Tuesday at 3 p.m. at home. According to senior Justin Fairchild, Animo is a strong team and will be a good challenge.

“Considering our recent form I think we will be up for the challenge,” Fairchild said. “It should be a good game that we will hopefully come out with another win.”
