UPDATE:
Mira Costa Vice Principal Mr. Jon Shaw announced in a 10:30 a.m. school-wide announcement that “the threat is not credible.” Students have been released from the lock-in-place.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department received a bomb threat, so Mira Costa High School instituted a lock-in-place at approximately 10:05 a.m. due to the threat.
Costa Principal Dr. Ben Dale said that the MBPD threat mentioned “wires,” but the threat is not associated with student backpacks.
“Please look around the interior of your classroom for anything suspicious or out of place,” Dale said in a 10:13 a.m. e-mail to all Costa staff. “We are searching for all the same things in the halls and outside areas. We do not believe it is a threat of impending danger, we are just being extra-cautious.”
