Mira Costa’s boys soccer lost to Palos Verdes 3-2 in an away game on Tuesday. The Mustangs started out strong but were unable to keep PV from scoring the tiebreaking goal.
Costa began the game with a goal made by senior left midfielder Kevin Vartan. Palos Verdes responded with a goal, ending the first half in a tie. In the second half, PV scored again, followed by a goal from junior Raphael Diogo. The Mustangs were not able to come back after PV scored again in the last few minutes of the game. According to senior Adrian Caldevilla, the boys came out excited and ready to win.
“We moved the ball around brilliantly and were able to prevent PV from getting any sort of rhythm,” Caldevilla said. “The game just did not end up going our way, but we are ready for the rematch next month.”
Costa, now 4-1-1 overall, will play its second Bay League game against Penninsula at 3 p.m. on Friday at home. According to senior team captain Sean Fabian, the team is excited for its game against Peninsula and is ready for a win.
“Coming off a disappointing loss to PV we are looking forward to getting our first league win,” Fabian said. “We showed how much potential our team had against PV so I feel confident.”
