Given the success that many stores and restaurants have at the El Segundo Point, it is no surprise that people are smittened with the new ice cream shop.
Smitten, a new ice cream shop located at the Point, redefines the selling of delicious dessert coupled with an intriguing way of making the ice cream, in addition to a convenient feature for ordering their ice cream online.
Smitten Ice Cream is a company that has been extremely popular in the San Francisco and East Bay area. Their new location in the El Segundo Point is the first in the South Bay.
The popular ice cream company is one of the first to introduce a method of flash-freezing ice cream with liquid nitrogen in a machine easily viewed by customers. Launched on December 16th, Smitten has already begun to awe consumers with their exciting ice cream production.
Creative and surprising combinations create a variety of rich, delicious ice cream, taking simple flavors and mixing in uncommon ingredients. Examples include pretzels added to cookie dough and pistachio cookies added to blood orange. The great taste satisfies those who might be displeased with small number of flavors.
In addition, Smitten is advantageously located right in the center of the El Segundo Point, thus making it easy to get to after a dinner in one of the many restaurants that surround it. Otherwise, it is a convenient treat while shopping in one of the eight clothing stores.
A regular scoop of ice cream from Smitten is priced about two dollars more than an average ice cream shop like the Baskin Robbins located on Sepulveda. However, it is understandable given the necessity for fresh materials when freezing ice cream using liquid nitrogen.
Also, Smitten’s liquid nitrogen used to freeze their ice cream quickly, not only speeds up the process of making ice cream for a few individuals at a time, but also creates an interesting process to watch while waiting for your treat, making the slightly longer waiting time more enjoyable.
This interesting freezing process allows the ice cream to have a creamy, almost gelato-like texture different than many other ice cream shops, while also creating an extremely rich taste, especially in the classic flavors like chocolate and vanilla.
As well as the nicely designed ice cream shop that one can visit, there is an easy way to order Smitten ice cream online. Smitten sends well organized ice cream kits and packs to many locations throughout the South Bay via Postmates.
Not only is it possible to order online, but customers have access to a sundae kit, including a pint of six main flavors, a pint taster pack, including four main flavors, and all of the great toppings that Smitten uses to improve their ice cream.
One problem with Smitten is that the ice cream being frozen for only a few individuals at a time can cause service to slow down. Therefore, the speed of consumer’s orders is based on luck. If they run out of one flavor, it may take up to ten minutes to make more.
Overall, however, Smitten is a creative ice cream store in a great location with an innate ability to satisfy the interests and tastebuds of their consumers.
