Mira Costa boys soccer walked away with a victory after its 4-0 win against Inglewood High School on Tuesday.
The Mustangs kept possession of the ball throughout the game and were able to effectively finish their oportunties. Goal-scoring chances created by senior outside midfielder Jason Schwartz helped Costa secure its shutout.
“We connected our passes throughout the game, which led to us getting the results that we needed,” junior outside defender Brady Douglas said.
Costa started out strong as the boys were able to control the game with fast-paced passing. Senior forward Kevin Vartan quickly scored off a pass from Schwartz.
“Jason was a top performer in today’s game, and he is a great example of a hard worker,” coach Gary Smith said.
As the first half came to a close, junior center midfielder Raphael Diogo was fouled in the box when he attempted to dribble toward the goal. He scored on a penalty kick, and the half ended with Costa winning, 2-0.

“We played as a unit and kept the ball in their half,” Taub said.

“We moved the ball much better in the second half,” Caldevilla said.
