The Mira Costa girls soccer team swept Morningside High School 7-0 at home on Friday with goals from six different players in the team’s fourth Bay League game.
Goals by juniors Viviana Villacorte, Delaney Kluth and Delaney Whittet and seniors Caroline Keever and Brooke Gleason helped the team dominate the scoreboard. According to Keever, the team did a great job of keeping possession and finishing the chances they had on goal.
“We were able to continue working on getting good touches on the ball and work on perfecting our passes and executing our chances to score,” Keever said. “It was also a good opportunity for us to demonstrate the great depth we have on our roster.”
The Mustangs now improve their Bay League record to 3-1 and overall to 12-3. On Tuesday, the Mustangs will take on one of their rivals, Redondo at home, in hope to keep their three game winning streak alive.
“In our upcoming game against Redondo, we want to take what we have been working on in practice and in games,” Keever said. “We want to focus on keeping possession and capitalizing on our scoring opportunities in order to win this game.”
