Mira Costa’s girls soccer team tied with the Palos Verdes Sea Kings 1-1 away on Friday. The Mustangs scored first in the first half but gave up the tying goal early in the second half.
An early first half goal from senior forward Michaila Franklin allowed for the Mustangs to take an early lead. Unfortunately the Mustangs were unable to find its winning goal, but according to Franklin, the team’s mentality before the game was not where it needed to be.
“We were happy to tie against Palos Verdes considering we lost last time,” Franklin said. “But our mentality going into the game wasn’t where it needed to be in order to win the game.”
Costa is now 3-2-1 in the Bay League and 12-1-4 overall. The team takes on Peninsula at home on Tuesday night on its senior night. According to Franklin, as long as the team maintains a high energy level throughout the game, the Mustangs will come away with a win.
“We are all excited for our next game, especially because it’s our Senior Night,” Franklin said. “Knowing that so many people will be there supporting us, just makes us want to win even more.
