Mira Costa’s boys basketball team was defeated by Redondo Union High School 78-47 on Tuesday in an away Bay League game. Junior guard Ryan White scored 12 points, grabbed four rebounds, and had two assists and one steal.

Redondo controlled the game on the offensive and defensive side by out rebounding Costa, and maintained its lead throughout the game by executing their three point shooting. According to White he thought he and his teammates put up a good effort against a team of that caliber.

“We did what we could,” White said. “Redondo is one of the best teams in California and you sometimes just have to use games as a learning experience.”

The Mustangs now 12-10 overall and 2-3 in Bay League, will take on Palos Verdes High School in a home game on Friday. According to sophomore guard Bobby Barkley, this game will be crucial.

“This is the game we need to focus on,” Barkley said. “If we win it, then we will still have a chance to place well in our league.”
