Mira Costa’s girls soccer team shut out Inglewood High School 6-0 in a Bay League match at home on Friday. The team scored two goals in the first half and four in the second half while maintaining its shutout.

Goals from sophomores Olivia Vega and Katharine Rogerson, junior Delaney Kluth, and senior Michailea Franklin helped the Mustangs show their dominance over Inglewood. According to Rogerson, the team played well, but was looking at this game as more of a practice to work out some of the team’s weaknesses.

“We entered this game hoping it wouldn’t be very challenging so we tried to make sure we could improve on some things in our playing that needed improvement,” Rogerson said. “Nonetheless, the team performed well and we were happy to come out on top.”

The Mustangs’ Bay League record to 5-1-2 and their overall record is 14-1-4 and is now third place in Bay League. They will play its next game on Tuesday at Morningside High School. According to Rogerson, the team hopes to play like they did last game and use their upcoming game as practice while they prepare for CIF.

“We are hoping to play similarly against Morningside like we did against Inglewood,” Rogerson said. “We will try to use this game as another good practice, and we are hopeful to make it to CIF.”
