Mira Costa’s boys basketball team lost to Inglewood High School 47-33 in an away Bay League game on Friday. The Mustangs were unable to score consistently throughout the game despite playing strong defense the whole game.
Senior guard Johnny Mims scored 8 points, pulled down two rebounds, made four assists, and stole the ball twice. According to Mims he was trying to do as much off the ball as he was with the ball.
“I was trying to set my teammates up and be aggressive on defense,” Mims said. “We were playing good defense but we were unable to score consistently.”
Mira Costa, now 14-11 overall and 4-4 in Bay League, will next play at home against Redondo on Saturday in a Bay League game. According to junior guard Ryan White, the team will have to be aware of Redondo’s height and athleticism.
“Redondo is very solid,” White said. “We need to be aggressive on defense and make sure we do not waste offensive opportunities.”
