Mira Costa’s boys basketball team defeated Morningside High School in a home game 76-55 in its last Bay League of the season on Tuesday. Senior guard Johnny Mims put up 16 points, had four rebounds, five assists, and a steal.
The Mustangs dominated the whole game through strong, aggressive defense and pinpoint three point shooting. According to Mims, the whole team was excited to finish its regular season on a strong note.
“All of us came out and wanted to get a win tonight because it was our last game before CIF,” Mims said.
The Mustangs are now 16-11 overall and finished Bay League at 5-5. They are now heading into California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). According to junior guard Ryan White he was glad to finish the season strong and now he and the rest of the team looks forward to CIF.
“I’m glad we could finish like this but now our focus is on CIF,” White said.
