PHHHOTO is a hot new app by HYPERHYPER that features fun moving pictures in a simple layout. HYPERHYPER’s idea of creating five second repeating videos creates a unique social media outlet that revolutionizes the way the public can share visual information. (41)
PHHHOTO is perfect for smartphone owners looking for a new social media app, featuring an unprecedented approach to the format. Users can navigate the simplistic app and shoot their own innovate gifs to share with followers, or scroll through their feed to view glitchy pictures of their friends. (48)
The app features a clean design, from its icon to the inner layout, prevalent throughout the entire app. The simple design featuring a five category bottom menu bar is extremely easy to use. PHHHOTO is an innovative, foolproof app that allows users to express themselves on social media in a different form, yet there are still multiple flaws. (58)
Much like other social media applications, PHHHOTO allows users to like and comment on other users’ posts, but PHHHOTO is special because the feed is not cluttered with long strings of comments. The app only displays up to two comments,allowing for a minimalist, uncluttered scrolling experience. (47)
Although PHHHOTO introduces an entirely different way to share media, the app is not nearly as versatile as its competitors. Apps such as Instagram and Snapchat have added updates that broaden the versatility and usefulness of the app, while PHHHOTO is limited to only posting moving pictures. (47)
One of PHHHOTO’s greatest features is the PARTY tab located on the bottom menu bar. This feature allows users to create photo feeds that are solely viewable to a select group of their invited followers. Friends can string PHHHOTOs together to create videos, usually of specific events. (47)
Another great feature is the #WOW page. The #WOW page features the best of PHHHOTO, posts that are the most creative and impressive, selected by aspiring photographers. This feature lets users share their photography to a wide range of new viewers and display their pictures in the innovative form of gifs, a moving photo form. (55)
There is a never ending variety of awesome filters to choose from to enhance and make a PHHHOTO more personalized and entertaining. A black and white filter is always available, but everyday, PHHHOTO introduces two flashy new filters, such as an overlay of rainbow text or a psychedelic effects. The following day they are replaced by new ones and this process of introducing fun new filters entices users to check in everyday. (72)
A weak point of PHHHOTO’s capabilities is that users cannot save PHHHOTOs in the app to post later. If one shoots a PHHHOTO and then closes out of the app, the gif is lost. This limits postings for many users because there is no way to recover their previous projects. (50)
Another frustrating aspect of PHHHOTO is that it randomly takes a long time to update and if users wants to capture a moment using PHHHOTO, they are unable to due to the freezing. Other glitches are present as well, such as a permanent loading sign at the top of the feed until the app is quit. (56)
HYPERHYPER has received great publicization for the PHHHOTO app due to the feature they incorporated that allows users to post PHHHOTOs on other social media accounts, such as Instagram or Twitter. This strategic marketing is cleverly executed to expose users of other social media accounts to PHHHOTO. (47)
Overall, PHHHOTO is a wonderful and easy to use app that presents a fresh new take on the concept of social media. HYPERHYPER created the next up-and-coming app and although it is successful in enticing users to use the app, there are still a few kinks left to work out. (50)
