The Artists’ Studio Gallery located at Promenade on the Peninsula features a great mixture of paintings, sculptures and jewelry, all made by talented local artists.
The exhibit includes incredible range of beautiful portraits, landscapes, photographs, ceramic creations and more covered the gallery’s’ walls. The unique art harvests an impression of inspiration that fills the room and does not disappoint.
The artists that contributed to the art gallery including Pat Hinz, Joe Devinny, Beverly Holman, Don Crocker, and Parrish Nelson Hirasaki, who was heavily featured in the gallery, are all local from around the South Bay. Many of the artists have day jobs and pursue art in their free time, as a hobby.
There was a mass variety of art on display at the gallery. The walls are filled with framed photographs and watercolor, oil and acrylic paintings, as well as steel sculptures on exhibit in the center of the room. Some craftier art is also included in the mix; jewelry, ceramics, woodwork, melted glass, and assemblage art are all featured.
The paintings incorporate beautiful local scenery from some of the infamous Palos Verdes look-out points all the way to Venice, Italy which all make for stunning pieces of art. The paintings range from warm colored sunsets to cool colored ocean views, all of which produce a very calming and relaxing atmosphere.
The sculptures, which literally sit on pedestals, are directly in the core of the studio and give a dramatic first impression. All of the bronze sculptures, made by Errol Gordon, are images of a horse or bull and it’s relationship with a human. The incredibly unique art that makes it hard to look away derived from the intricate details and stunning designs on the art.
A lot of the art in the gallery stood out for its creativity, some of Beverly Holman’s work in particular, called assemblage art. This unique type of art, which are sculptures that are made out of old, recycled items, is extremely interesting and out of the ordinary. Holman took pieces of old clocks, dolls, jewelry and other random items to create amazing art that could be stared at for hours.
Talented artists including Joe Devinny, Howard Schneider and and Pat Hinz produced beautiful pieces using clay, glass, and wood. All these pieces could serve as functional pieces around a household, but they also look like detailed and special art in a gallery.
Much too often, people forget about some of the most inventive pieces. These pieces, that come from a process of adding things in order to make an aesthetically pleasing appeal for viewers, include jewelry and mosaics. Artist, Nancy Comaford, created intricate and beautiful jewelry.
Despite a little drive out of the way, the Artists’ Studio’s gallery is completely worth it. The zeal of new art surrounds the room and it is incredible to see what talented local community members are capable of.
The Artists’ Studio Gallery is open from 11 am to 8 pm from January 11th to February 21st. The gallery is found at the Promenade on the Peninsula in Rolling Hills Estates, CA and it is a free entry.
