Mira Costa’s track and field competed at three different track meets on Saturday with various athletes competing at either Palos Verdes Distance Day, Mustang Round Up Day or in a tri-meet versus Warren and LB Milikin.
Stand out performers at these meets included junior Shante Robinson, who placed first in the 100 meter run and second in the 200 meter, sophomore Pluria Marshall who earned third in the 100 meter run, senior Brenton Westbrook, who placed third in the 400 meter run and juniors Michael Yaskowitz and Sierra Andrade both earning third in their 800 meter runs. According to sophomore Megan Fisher, the Mustangs are proud of their results.
“We did well at this meet and we hope to always do well at meets,” Fisher said. “Our team is really driven and we push each other in practices. It’s a group effort to cheer everyone on.”
With a strong start to their season, the Mustangs’ next meet will be at West Torrance High School on Wednesday at 2:45 in a non-Bay League meet. According to Fisher, the team’s success at the next meet will vary with each category.
“Our meet at West Torrance will be challenging depending on the type of race,” Fisher said. “Costa has a strong team this year, and I believe we will do well at West Torrance.”
