Following the talent show on Friday night, winners in each category from the show were announced and given their prizes on Monday during fourth period.
During the show a panel of judges evaluated each performance and selected a winner for the categories best band, best solo, best original song, best instrumental and best overall. Juniors Gabby Franco, Matt DuMont, Kip Ambrose and senior Will Riordan won the award for best band for their performance of “No Diggity” by Chet Faker and Amber Manley won best solo for her cover of “Hey Ya” by Outkast. The award of best original song went to Gigi Shabestari for her song “Spirit Child,” and Alex Korn won best instrumental for “Pride and Joy” by Stevie Ray Vaughan. Finally, Musicians with Attitude, made up of seniors Shubhayu Bhattacharyay, Dylan Mibu, and Zain Khalifeh won best overall for “Straight Outta Orchestra.”
“The talent show was an amazing experience,” Franco said. “Not only did I get to sing in front of a large group of my peers, but I had the opportunity to perform with a group of incredible musicians.”
