Mira Costa’s girls lacrosse lost to Birmingham 4-6 in a non-conference game on Wednesday at Birmingham High School, with top performances by sophomore midfielder Charlie Manley and senior midfielder Kayla Knowles.

The Mustangs were down for most of the first half and struggled to out play Birmingham’s defense. Going into the second half they were down and started to come back towards the end of the game, but it was too late. According to senior captain Kayla Sugimoto, the team played well but still has more to work on.

“We were down going into the second half and came out strong towards the end of the game,” Sugimoto said. “But we couldn’t come together and still need to work on playing and working out fundamentals.”

The Mustangs are currently 3-3 overall. The team’s next game is against Glendale at Home on Thursday at 5:30. According to senior captain Ally Keasler, the team played well but needs to focus more on the game.

“We need to focus more throughout the entire game and need to show what we have been working on in practice,” said Keasler.
