Mira Costa’s girls lacrosse defeated Glendale High School 6-3 in a non-conference game on Thursday at Home, with top performances from sophomore midfielder Charlie Manley and senior Kayla Knowles.
The Mustangs held Glendale’s offenses throughout the first half and took the lead. In the second half Costa’s defense let Glendale score 3 goals, but didn’t allow them to catch up. According to senior captain Kayla Sugimoto, the team performed better than they have all season.
“We played a lot better as a team and our fundamentals looked a lot better,” Sugimoto said. “But We still have some more work to do but overall this was a great win for our first home game.”
The Mustangs are currently 4-3 overall and the team’s next game is in the LA OC Shootout tournament at Laguna Hills High School on Saturday. According to senior captain Ally Keasler, the team still has more to work on for the next game.
“In order to continue to grow as team, we need to continue to point out our flaws and try to make them our strengths.” Keasler said.
