Mira Costa’s girls lacrosse played in the LA OC Shootout tournament on Saturday at Laguna Hills High School. The team had top performances from junior Rachel Glozman and sophomore Charlie Manley.
The Mustangs lost to San Clemente 8-6 but came back and defeated Laguna Hills 16-10. The first game was rough for the Mustangs since they were outplayed by San Clemente, but recovered and played tremendously better in their game against Laguna Hills. According to senior captain Kayla Sugimoto, the team had a rough day but still improved by the end of the day.
“Our first game was messy but we fought hard and got some tough calls,” Sugimoto said. “But by the end of the day, we came out with a victory and improved by the end of the day.”
The Mustangs are currently 4-4 overall. The team’s next game is against Oak Park at Oak Park High School on Tuesday. According to senior captain Ally Keasler, the team still needs to work on playing together as a team.
“Our next game against Oak Park is going to be tough and we still need to work on our team playing as a whole,” Keasler said.
