Mira Costa’s boys lacrosse team fell to Oak Park 12-8 in an non-conference away game on Friday. The Mustangs were playing behind for the entirety of the game and were unable to pull out a win.
Costa was trailing behind by one or two points until the second quarter, when Oak Park pushed ahead to further their lead to end the first half 7-4. In the second half, Costa was trying to catch up but it was too late. According to senior defense Jack Gibbons, the team needs to work on executing plays better on both offense on defense.
“We played hard but had one bad quarter and spent the rest of the time trying to catch up,” Gibbons said. “We have the right ideas but the little things will throw us off.”
The Mustangs are currently 4-2 overall. They will next play on Tuesday in an away game against Loyola, the number one ranked team in Los Angeles. According to Gibbons, it will be a tough game.
“They’re one of the top teams in our area and have a lot of talented players,” Gibbons said. “It will be a good test to see how we stack up against the better teams in our league.”
