Mira Costa’s hockey team was defeated 4-2 by El Segundo Friday at the Toyota Sports Center. Despite its loss, the team received a standout performance from junior defenseman Jack St. Ivany who contributed a goal early in the game.
Early in the game, the Mustangs were able to keep El Segundo from scoring. By the end of the first period the score remained 0-0. However, a scoring attack from the Eagles in the second period left Costa unable to gain a lead. According to Bohan, the team had the ability to win the game.
“I think we definitely should have won that game,” sophomore winger Malcolm Bohan said. “We came into the game thinking it would be easy and it definitely was not,”
Costa, now 0-1, will play its next game April 1 at the Toyota Sports Center against an undetermined opponent. According to Bohan, the Mustangs will have to improve their defense in order to be successful.
“In this last game we definitely didn’t play defense very well,” Bohan said. “Our team needs to improve on that.”
