Mira Costa’s boys volleyball team completed a three game sweep at Newport Harbor High School on Tuesday, winning 25-16, 25-20, and 25-22. Costa’s outstanding performance this season has ranked Costa as the number two ranked team in the nation.

Strong performances from senior outside hitter Roy McFarland, senior opposite Jackson Wedbush, and senior libero Sam Jones led the Mustangs to their victory.  According to junior outside hitter Kevin Pinkerton, everybody contributed to the win.

“They were a solid opponent but we all stick together and played our game and came out on top,” Pinkerton said.

Mira Costa is now 8-1 overall and will next play at Palos Verdes on Thursday afternoon in the team’s first Bay League match.  According to junior libero Will Taylor, the Mustangs hope to open up league play with a victory.

“We just have to keep it up,” Taylor said.  “The more we play, the better we will get as a unit.”
