G-Eazy blew away any doubts of his talent and outstanding new album, “When It’s Dark Out” at his sold out concert at the Shrine & Expo Hall February 10.
G-Eazy had weak opening acts, but the acts improved throughout the show. He did not come onto the stage until 10, which built up excitement and anticipation. G-Eazy performed well and was able to keep the energy up all night. He played a variety of songs from his oldest to his newest.
This album was released December 4, 2015 after being worked on since 2014. It was critiqued as a large step-up from his previous album, “These Things Happen”. It consists of seventeen songs, and one bonus track on Google Play. “When It’s Dark Out”’s leading single is “Me, Myself, and I”.
Endless Summer was G-Eazy’s first breakout album, which was released in 2011. Since then, he has released “Must Be Nice”, “These Things Happen”, and his latest, “When It’s Dark Out”. His first tour ever was in 2013, where he sold out shows across the country. He is from Oakland, CA, which he refers to in many of his songs as the Bay Area.
The energy when G-Eazy came out was incredible, and the whole venue was shaking. His concert was exciting but his performance was not great, due to the fact that he does not sound as good live as recorded. Though that had little effect on the fans or the energy of the concert.
G-Eazy performed many of his new album songs, and included some refreshing new tracks. He brought on Wiz Khalifa, French Montana, P-Diddy, and Chris Brown later which made the crowd go crazy. The first time G-Eazy came out the crowd was ecstatic. He was welcomed into the hall with screaming fans.
The show was chaotic in the best way, with people running to get as close as possible to the performers who were playing their hearts out. G-Eazy himself put on the best show of his life that night. This may not be everybody’s scene, but it is worth going at least once for the experience.
Many factors contributed to this lively experience, with the anticipation after waiting for G-Eazy to come out being a main one. Once he came out, there was no turning back. He had his audience hooked for the night. Bringing out other artists only increased this feeling of intensity.
G-Eazy’s performance was filled with many different aspects. He took the audience from a fast, heart pounding song about becoming famous to slower, more emotional songs. He pulled off each one, with the help of his screaming fans and other artists.
G-Eazy had a long, tiring performance, but did not let that show through at all. This shows his talent as a rapper is not just a fluke. He reiterates this idea throughout his show, and by the end, everyone with doubts was sure of it: G-Eazy is a chart-topping rapper and is not going anywhere anytime soon.
His show was at the Shrine Auditorium February 9 and 10. G-Eazy is still touring around the world, but his next show in LA is unknown.
