Mira Costa’s girls beach volleyball team defeated Redondo Union on March 26 at Dockweiler Beach.
The Mustangs first and third-seed teams easily defeated the Seahawks. However, Costa’s second-seed team came up just short. Costa’s two wins against the Seahawks earned it the overall victory.

Monk-Heidrich and senior Emma Smith contributed a standout performance as the number-one seed team. The duo went undefeated because Monk was utilizing her height, gaining key blocks and kills.

The Mustangs, currently 3-0, will play their third International Beach Volleyball League tournament of the year on April 9 at Dockweiler Beach. The team will face West Torrance High School and Palisades High School.
“Before the next game, we are definitely going to practice our serve receive,” sophomore Karina Myszkowski said. “That way, we can do our best to set up an attack on every single play in the upcoing games.”
