Mira Costa’s boys golf team lost to Loyola High School 387-399 in a non-conference game on Monday in an 18 hole match at the Lakewood Golf Club with a top performance by senior Carson Armstrong.
The team was neck and neck with Loyola for the first half of the match. Later in the game, Costa started to fall behind and even with a low score of 74 by Armstrong Costa was lost the match. According to Armstrong, the team played despite the loss.
“I thought we played really well today and we were very close to defeating Loyola again,” Armstrong said. “We had some bad holes but overall our performance was strong.”
The Mustangs are currently 3-4 overall, and will face off against Beverly Hills High School on Tuesday at the Ranch Park Golf Course. According to sophomore Jack Major, the team is well prepared for the match.
“I am confident in our abilities and I believe we have a strong chance at victory if we give it our all, ” Major said. “Beverly Hills has a strong golf team so the match should be competitive.”
