Mira Costa students and staff evacuated classrooms at approximately 9:17 a.m. during second period today after a fire alarm was triggered.

Principal Dr. Ben Dale made an announcement over the loudspeaker stating that it was not a drill before ordering all students and staff to evacuate the buildings. After approximately 10 minutes, he announced an all clear. According to Costa Vice Principal Jon Shaw, the fire alarm went off when someone triggered a pull station in one of the classrooms in the history building and it was a false alarm.

“We verified that it was just a pull station that had been pulled, and we were able to send kids back to class quickly after,” Shaw said.
