Senior Andrea Lee earned a spot in the Ladies Professional Golf Association’s (LPGA’s) first major tournament this year by shooting the lowest score at the ANA Junior Inspiration tournament at the Mission Hills Country Club.
Lee got the final spot in a field of 115 players in the LAPG tournament after shooting 5 under par-67 at the ANA Junior Inspiration tournament. According to Lee, it was a huge opportunity to play with the professionals in this tournament.
“It is very rewarding to qualify to play in this tournament, and I am very excited to play with the professionals,” Lee said. “It is my dream to become a professional golfer so this just brings me one step closer.”
At the major tournament Lee was cut the second day after being four strokes over the cut. According to Lee qualifying for the tournament was an honor and a major learning experience.
“It has been a dream of mine to make it to a professional tournament,” Lee said. “Although it was disappointing to be cut, I learned a lot from the professionals.”
