Volleyball places second in Hawaii’s Clash of Titans tournament

Mira Costa’s boys volleyball team competed in the Clash of the Titans tournament in Hawaii on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  The Mustangs placed second, going 2-1 in the tournament.  

 

They opened play against Corona Del Mar, defeating them 3-2, then beat Kamehameha 3-1, before losing 3-2 to Punahou.  According to junior outside hitter Kevin Pinkerton, the tournament provided everyone a chance to play in good competition.  

 

“It was a strong tournament and I think everybody benefitted from our games and it showed with our success,” Pinkerton said.

 

Mira Costa is now 11-3 overall and will next face Morningside High School in a home Bay League game on Tuesday.  According to junior libero Will Taylor, the team looks to just keep getting better and to reach thebultimate goal of winning California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).

 

“We are learning how to play together and we just need to maintain our focus and our goals,” Taylor said.
