Mira Costa’s boys golf team placed third in the Knabe Cup Tournament on Wednesday at the Lakewood Golf course, with top performances by freshman Max Huggins and senior Nick Harry.

The Mustangs shot a 300 for the day, putting the team in third place out of 50 schools. Low scores of 71 by Huggins and 74 by Harry helped the team earn a solid score. According to Harry, the team played exceptionally in the tournament.

“I am proud of the team’s performance and we were able to finish the game strong,” Harry said. “At times the team could have done better, but overall we made many of our shots and performed well.”

The Mustangs are currently 7-4 overall and are undefeated 3-0 in Ocean League. The team will face off  against Culver City High School at the Alondra Golf Course on Thursday. According to Huggins the team should perform well on Thursday just as it did on Wednesday.

“We have a strong team this year so I believe if we perform to the best of our capabilities like we did today, we can be victorious” Huggins said.
