Mira Costa’s girls softball team lost to Palos Verdes High School on 3-0 Wednesday in the first Bay League game of the season.
The Mustangs ran hard in the beginning, but the Sea Kings’ pitcher proved difficult for the Mustang’s to handle, and they lost the first inning 2-0. The Sea Kings scored once agin in the third inning.. Unable to make a comeback, the Mustangs lost the game 3-0. According to junior second base Erica Noll, Costa’s pitcher and infielders held strong.
“It’s a tough loss against one of our Bay League rivals, but we expect to bounce back against Peninsula on Friday using stronger offense.” Noll said.
Costa will next play Penninsula in a home game on Friday. Their Bay League record is currently 0-1, and their overall record is 4-8. According to junior outfielder Emily Eudy, the team is preparing for Friday by working on focus and hitting.
“We are ready to face some of the toughest pitchers we meet in our league games,” Eudy said.
